The Government Technology & Services Coalition is once again working with the U.S. Coast Guard to host a USCG Industry Expo scheduled for May 13, 2020, designed to provide a capability exchange between the USCG Contracting Enterprise and industry. The USCG Industry Expo is a booth-style format engagement — vendors interested in doing business with the USCG are invited to register and join us! Registration begins March 1.

Registration is for your COMPANY and you will receive one tabletop for a display about your products/services. This is an EXPO, not a traditional industry day. It takes place in Washington, D.C. and registration is FREE but REQUIRED. Space is limited. Up to 4 participants per company are allowed.

The audience for this event will primarily consist of USCG (active-duty or civilian) attendees and targeted vendor companies. In this setting, the event is a unique forum for sharing industry capabilities and capacity to meet the business needs/mission of USCG. Additionally, in this open-dialogue format, USCG attendees can network with industry, learn more about industry capabilities and how the USCG Contracting Enterprise procurement process can strengthen industry communication, engagement, innovation for mission execution.

GTSC is executing our member collaboration network — an online resource for you to communicate with other members of GTSC, collaborate within your Business Development Exchanges, and have direct, real-time access to the latest information, opportunities, and colleagues.

Often, I’m presented with opportunities and I have no fast way of getting out to you except by sending an email to the entire membership. This collaboration site allows me to post those opportunities or questions to all of you, and allows you to do the same. Similar to a listserv, you will be able to post opportunities, teaming requests, staffing challenges, and questions to the group. More valuable than a listserv, the collaboration site allows members to form work groups, opportunity groups, jointly edit and work on documents, whatever will help your business forward its goals by collaborating with others in GTSC.

What does this mean to me?

We have sent invitations for GTSC members to join our collaboration site and set up a profile. GTSC will be pushing more and more of our real-time communications through this tool. As soon as you have a profile, we can invite you to your specialty group (GTSC BDEs, Lion’s Den, Innovation workgroup) and start communicating.

WHY are you doing this to us, Kristina? Another network??

I know, I know. Another thing. But we have to do it, frankly, to be more efficient. This tool cleans up your inbox, helps you focus on the opportunities we’re working on, and gives you all a platform to leverage the Coalition better. The key of course is for you to start using it actively so that we work as a cohesive machine.

So….let’s get busy!! Check your inbox (and your junk mail) for the invite from group site. If you have not received an invite, please let me know and we’ll figure out the problem.

THANK YOU all for your patience while we implement this exciting new function — once up and running I assure you that it will become your “go to” spot for tracking and partnering.

As always, do not hesitate to reach out with any questions!!

The U.S. Department of Treasury, Office of Small Disadvantaged Business Utilization, presented the Government Technology & Services Coalition (GTSC) with the Excellence in Partnership award for “Moving Treasury’s Small Business […]

The U.S. Department of Treasury, Office of Small Disadvantaged Business Utilization, presented the Government Technology & Services Coalition (GTSC) with the Excellence in Partnership award for “Moving Treasury’s Small Business Program Forward” through its work to develop a robust program for small businesses interested in working with the Department.

“GTSC leadership worked with us to develop and execute an extensive program to help small companies understand the Department of the Treasury, our needs, and where small businesses could help our mission in both every day execution and in how they invest in their business. Their leadership and members participated with us in a number of projects to educate our contracting workforce and to improve the market research around how Treasury finds new vendors. We are extremely pleased to present GTSC with this award.”

Treasury assists, counsels, and advises small businesses of all types (small businesses, small disadvantaged business, women-owned small businesses, economically disadvantaged women-owned small businesses, veteran owned small businesses, service disabled veteran owned small businesses, and small businesses located in historically underutilized business zones) on procedures for contracting with Treasury.

In 2015, the Department greatly expanded its small business program hosting its first Small Business Roundtable with leadership from Treasury and small business organizations, hosted its first Small Business Industry Day, and worked with the U.S. General Services Administration to develop a video-training tool for Contracting Officers (COs) used government-wide.

“A debriefing is one of the most impactful communications that takes place during the acquisition process, because of the of the various implications it has to both parties. Delivering a debriefing is a skill, and like most things worth doing, it is best executed with practice. My colleagues from GTSC and I were honored to be a part of the Department of Treasury’s mock debriefing training. Knowing our efforts will be used to train hundreds of procurement professionals is very rewarding,” said Carolyn Muir, Executive Vice President of SE Solutions and GTSC’s Chair of Acquisition & Procurement Initiatives. Companies that participated included SE Solutions, Keep It Simple Technology Solutions, McMenamin (MCG) Consulting, LeapFrog Solutions, and Rigil.

“We are extremely grateful and honored by this award,” said Kristina Tanasichuk, Founder & CEO of the Coalition. “In response to Treasury’s commitment to small business, GTSC added the Department as one of our partner agencies this year. They recognized the value of small business and have made a tremendous contribution to the small business community by engaging deeply, understanding the strengths of what these innovators have to offer, and educating their workforce on the benefits of this community. We are proud to work with them to find the innovation, creativity, and professionalism needed to execute their mission while supporting the small business community.”

Washington, D.C., April 30 — The Government Technology & Services Coalition (GTSC), the premier organization for small and mid-sized companies in homeland and national security today announced that Tamla Tymus, former Subcommittee Director/General Counsel for the House Committee on Homeland Security Subcommittee on Oversight and Management Efficiency under Chairman Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS), and Amy Hutchens, former Special Assistant United States Attorney, Air Force Judge Advocate and CEO of CLEAResources, LLC have joined the Board of Advisors.

“We are excited to continue our tradition of excellence for our members by adding two very critical Advisors to our Board. Tamla has had a tremendous career with the Democratic leadership of homeland security in Congress, and Amy is at the forefront of ethics and compliance for federal government contractors. Their insights and engagement with us is an extremely added value for our members,” said Kristina Tanasichuk, Founder & CEO of GTSC.

“Small business has always been critical to the homeland security mission – former Chairman Thompson was very committed to assuring that innovative new ideas had a chance to germinate and grow,” said Tymus at the release. “I am drawn to the Coalition for that reason – a fair and equitable playing field for innovators and entrepreneurs interested in serving the homeland and national security mission.”

“Ethics in contracting has emerged as one of the most serious and critical topics to every government contractor. With False Claims Act suits and whistleblower protections, every company must take the requirements of the FAR and embed them in their culture. I am excited to work with GTSC members to achieve the highest ethical standards in the business,” said Amy Hutchens.

GTSC has added ethics certification to its Capacity Building programming to assure that small and mid-size companies have an easy way to assure their employees are trained and familiar with the ethics requirements of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). The first certification session, led by Hutchens, will take place May 6.

Members of the Board of Advisors provide input to GTSC’s programming, identify areas of collaboration, and increase the awareness and understanding of the Federal homeland and national security mission. GTSC works on behalf of its members with the U.S. Departments of Homeland Security, Defense, State, Justice and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. Since its inception, GTSC has worked with these agencies to achieve mission in an increasingly challenging budget environment, advocate for the value of small businesses, increase understanding of mid-tier companies, improve market research and increase collaboration between the public and private sector.

A full list of GTSC’s Board of Strategic Advisors can be found here.
